Why rent a boat from Nynäshamn?

Renting a boat in Nynäshamn gives you direct access to some of the most beautiful and varied parts of the Stockholm archipelago. Unlike central Stockholm, where boat traffic is heavy and distances are longer, Nynäshamn places you right at the gateway to the outer islands. Within minutes of leaving the harbour, you are surrounded by sheltered or open water, smooth granite cliffs and quiet natural harbours.

One of the most popular destinations by boat from Nynäshamn is Nåttarö. Known for its long sandy beaches and exceptionally clear water, it is often described as one of the most beautiful islands in the southern archipelago. On a warm summer day, the shallow waters, white sand beaches, and pine trees create an almost Mediterranean atmosphere. It is ideal for swimming, relaxing, and spending a full day outdoors with family or friends. With a rented motorboat, you can anchor in a protected bay and enjoy the island at your own pace.

For those looking for a quieter and more traditional archipelago experience, Järflotta offers smooth rock formations, natural harbours and peaceful surroundings. This is the classic Swedish boating setting, where you moor directly against the granite cliffs, lay out a towel on the warm rocks and dive into the Baltic Sea. Järflotta is less developed and less crowded than many inner archipelago islands, making it perfect for guests who want space and silence.

Further out, you reach Yttre Gården, where the landscape becomes more open and exposed to the Baltic Sea. Low vegetation, wind shaped rocks and wide horizons define this part of the archipelago. On calm weather days, cruising here feels expansive and free. It is a reminder of how vast the Stockholm archipelago really is. Renting a boat from Nynäshamn makes these outer islands accessible within a comfortable day trip.

At the southern entrance of the Stockholm archipelago lies Öja, also known as Landsort. This historic island is home to Sweden’s oldest lighthouse and has long guided ships safely through these waters. Visiting Landsort by boat is a highlight for many guests. You can dock in the small harbour, walk along coastal paths and enjoy a café during summer. The combination of maritime history and dramatic scenery makes it one of the most rewarding destinations reachable from Nynäshamn.

Choosing a boat rental in Nynäshamn means choosing faster access, less congestion and a more authentic archipelago experience. Whether you are looking for sandy beaches, quiet cliff mooring, outer sea adventure or historic island villages, the southern Stockholm archipelago offers it all within reach of a single day at sea.
